I'm a Mississippi-based artist currently completing my Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Mississippi with an emphasis in painting. Growing up in Mississippi and spending much of my time along the Gulf Coast has had a strong influence on both who I am and the work I create. I have always been drawn to the outdoors, especially the ocean, and painting has become my way of capturing the places and moments that stay with me.
My work is primarily inspired by the natural world, with a particular focus on seascapes and landscapes. I'm fascinated by how quickly nature can change. The ocean can feel peaceful one moment and powerful the next, while forests, marshes, and open landscapes can create an entirely different sense of stillness. I work mainly in oil and enjoy using color, movement, light, and texture to bring these environments to life. While many of my paintings begin with places I have personally experienced, I want each piece to feel like more than a representation of a specific location.
Through my work, I hope to give viewers a moment to slow down and feel present. Spending time alone in nature has taught me how important it can be to step away from everyday distractions and simply observe what is around you. I want my paintings to create a similar experience, whether they bring back a memory, create a feeling of calm, or remind someone of their own connection to a place.
